Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at sydney@ryla6150.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A representative of the Rotary Club that selected you will provide transportation to and from camp. Check-in starts at 5pm on Thursday, so you will need to work with your Rotary Coordinator and school counselor to arrange leaving school early that day. The camp concludes at 11am Sunday. If, for any reason, you cannot make it to camp on time, please contact your Rotary Coordinator so that another student can be selected.

Campers must be able to arrive on time  in order to participate in camp. No late arrivals will be allowed.

Days are long and full of activity at RYLA. You will be participating in a number of physical and mental challenges with a team that you will get to know very well throughout the weekend. You will also hear from some top local leadership speakers. Your timely and active participation in all activities is required, though each physical challenge is done by your choice.  Participants are expected to abide by the RYLA Code of Conduct.

Your sleeping accommodations will be dorm-like rooms. You will have a clean bed but you will need to bring a sleeping bag or twin bedding and pillow.

Three meals and snacks will be provided, buffet-style. Our menu is set prior to camp and will include some vegetarian options. However, we are unable to accommodate every diet. If you have special dietary restrictions due to allergies or a required diet, please provide that information to your Rotary Club Coordinator.

Check out the packing list.

To ensure everyone stays safe and looks their best as the leaders they are, please dress comfortably and appropriately for outdoor activities.

We encourage wearing denim and cotton or cotton-blend fabrics, which are perfect for staying cool and active. Shorts should be an appropriate length—think athletic or casual styles that allow you to move easily. We also ask that tops have straps and provide full coverage to keep you comfortable and ready for action.

Footwear should be closed-toe and suitable for light athletic activities, like tennis shoes or hiking boots, so you’re prepared for whatever fun comes your way! Please remember that fall weather is unpredictable. Bring pants and sweatshirts even if you think you won't need it. (it gets cold!)

RYLArians are allowed to have their cell phones but are not to be on them while we are in session. We encourage them to stay present and engaged with their new friends. If there is an emergency, and you need to contact your child, please contact the director, Sydney Gilbert, at 501-952-9636.
